The Short Story Anthology is official & will be launched at the 2010 Brisbane Supanova
For those who have been waiting for the news, we are happy to announce that the short story anthology is now officially going ahead.
It will contain an eclectic variety of writers, mostly of Australian stock, but we’ll have a few international authors as well. The winners and highly commended entries from last years short story competition will be there. We have also invited a select group of finalists from that competition – people who did not make it to the final six but who nevertheless made up the pool of finalists from which they were chosen. We will also be including short stories that have already been published on the site, and we may have contributions from the sites regular writers, but we don’t know yet, as all judging of worthy submissions is being done anonymously.
And finally, until February 10th we will be accepting submissions from the public, in any genre, though we ask you familarise yourselves with the site and make sure your story would fit here. If it would, it should suit the anthology. For guidelines, go by the submissions guidelines for fiction on the site. Our apologies to people who have already submitted work to the short story competition and did not get offered a place, but we do not accept resubmissions.
We are also still working on our cover art. So any artists out there who would like to see their work on the cover of a book, send us your submissions! Like the authors, you would retain copyright of your work. Feel free to email us for more details on what we’re looking for, but for a start, we require a high res image. It needs to be the right shape for a standard book cover – but the exact dimensions don’t matter as we can work on a design once a piece of artwork is chosen.
The anthology is due to be published in late April, but we will be having an early launch at the Brisbane Supanova to take advantage of our having a booth at this ever awesome annual pop culture convention. If you come on the day we’ll have early copies of the anthology available, and some may even have a few signatures. We’ll also be offering competitions, showcasing some examples of the Predator costumes you read about in our series So You Want to be a Predator, and we’ll be offering some crafts and accessories of a punk and gothic style as presented by the lovely Tegan Vanessa, and a few creations from myself as well. We’re still working on other fun things to do, so let us know if there’s anything you want to see, and we’ll announce more closer to the date.
Hope to see some of you there!

That’s fantastic news! Congratulations guys!
Grah, wish I had the time to make a story for the anthology x.x
